Terms of service

Terms and Conditions & Customer Information — United States

Effective October 29, 2026

These terms apply to purchases for delivery to the United States through the TISLIT U.S. storefront. Your seller is Belaid Zouhair, trading as TISLIT, based in Cologne, Germany. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits consumer rights or other protections that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

I. Terms and Conditions

1. Scope and definitions

These terms apply to contracts you enter into with us, Belaid Zouhair, through tislit-teppiche.de/en-us. Unless otherwise agreed, we do not accept the incorporation of any separate terms you may use.

A consumer is an individual entering into a transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business, or independent professional activity. A business customer is an individual, legal entity, or partnership with legal capacity acting in the course of its trade, business, or independent professional activity when entering into the transaction.

2. How the contract is formed

The contract concerns the sale of goods. By listing a product on our website, we make a binding offer to enter into a purchase contract through the online shopping-cart system on the terms stated in the product description.

Place the items you intend to buy in your shopping bag. You can open the shopping bag using the corresponding navigation link and change its contents before completing your order. After proceeding to checkout and entering your contact, delivery, and payment information, you can review your order details.

If you use an accelerated or third-party payment service offered at checkout, you may be directed to that provider to choose or enter the required information. Your order details are then shown either by that provider or after you return to our store.

Before submitting your order, you can review and correct your details, use the available back-navigation controls, or leave checkout without placing the order. By pressing the final payment or purchase button, such as “Pay now” or a similarly labeled button indicating an obligation to pay, you legally accept our offer and the purchase contract is concluded.

Requests for an individual quotation are not binding on you. We will provide a binding offer in text form, for example by email. You may accept it within five days unless the offer specifies a different acceptance period.

We process orders and send information relating to the contract by email, in part automatically. Please provide a correct email address and ensure that you can receive our messages, including by checking your spam filter.

3. Rights of retention and ownership

You may exercise a right to withhold performance only in relation to claims arising from the same contractual relationship, subject to any mandatory rights that apply. The goods remain our property until the purchase price has been paid in full.

For business customers, the following additional provisions apply to the extent permitted by applicable law:

  1. We retain ownership of the goods until all amounts owed to us under the ongoing business relationship have been paid in full. Until ownership passes, the goods may not be pledged or transferred as security.
  2. You may resell the goods in the ordinary course of business. You assign to us, and we accept the assignment of, the receivables arising from that resale up to the invoiced amount. You remain authorized to collect those receivables. If you do not properly meet your payment obligations, we reserve the right to collect them ourselves.
  3. If goods subject to retained ownership are combined or mixed with other property, we acquire co-ownership of the resulting property in the proportion that the invoice value of our goods bears to the value of the other items at the time of processing.
  4. At your request, we will release security to the extent that its realizable value exceeds the secured claim by more than 10%. We may select which security to release.

4. Defects and warranty rights

Your statutory rights in respect of defective goods apply. These terms do not impose a general “as is” exclusion of those rights.

For used goods, a one-year limitation period for defect claims, measured from delivery, applies only if we inform you before you enter into the contract and you expressly agree to it separately, and only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Merely buying a vintage rug or accepting these general terms does not constitute that separate agreement.

Any such reduction does not apply to damage attributable to us involving culpable injury to life, body, or health; other damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence; a defect we fraudulently concealed; or a guarantee we gave concerning the characteristics of the goods.

Consumers are asked to check the goods promptly after delivery for completeness, obvious defects, and transport damage, and to report any problems to us and the carrier as soon as possible. Failure to do so does not affect your statutory rights in respect of defects.

If a characteristic of the goods differs from the objective requirements that would otherwise apply, that difference is treated as agreed only if we specifically informed you before you entered into the contract and you expressly agreed to it separately, where such agreement is permitted by law.

For business customers, the following provisions apply instead of the preceding consumer-specific provisions, to the extent permitted by applicable law:

  1. The agreed characteristics of the goods are determined by our own information and the manufacturer’s product description, rather than other advertising, public statements, or promotional claims by the manufacturer.
  2. For defects, we may choose between repair and replacement. If the remedy fails, you may choose a reduction in price or withdrawal from the contract. A remedy is normally considered to have failed after the second unsuccessful attempt unless the nature of the goods, the defect, or other circumstances justify a different result. When repairing goods, we are not required to pay increased costs caused by their relocation away from the place of performance unless that relocation corresponds to their intended use.
  3. The limitation period for defect claims is one year from delivery. This reduction does not apply to damage attributable to us involving culpable injury to life, body, or health; other damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence; a defect fraudulently concealed by us; a guarantee concerning the characteristics of the goods; goods used for a building in accordance with their usual purpose that caused the building to be defective; or statutory recourse claims against us in connection with defect rights.

5. Applicable law

German law applies. For consumers, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law that would otherwise apply in your place of habitual residence. Your mandatory rights and any right to bring a claim before a competent local court remain unaffected.

The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.

We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. This statement does not limit any mandatory consumer rights or access to competent courts.

2. Ordering and correcting information

The technical steps for placing an order, concluding the contract, and correcting your information are described in Section I.2 above.

3. Contract language and keeping a copy

The contract language for an order through the U.S. storefront is English. These U.S. terms apply to that order; terms displayed for a different destination do not replace them. This does not determine or restrict the language of any court proceedings or any mandatory rights.

Before submitting your order, you can print or save your order details and these terms using your browser. Keep your order confirmation and other contractual communications for your records. If you need a copy of the terms applicable to your order, contact us at tislitart@gmail.com.

For quotations arranged outside the shopping-cart system, we send the contractual information as part of our binding offer in text form, for example by email, so you can print or save it.

4. Product information and custom rugs

The essential characteristics of each item are set out in its product description or the individual offer. For a custom rug, review the selected dimensions and fringe option before ordering. Centimeter measurements specify the size being ordered; any feet-and-inch conversions are approximate.

Product descriptions and any separately agreed characteristics remain part of the contract. The fact that a rug is handmade, vintage, or viewed on a screen does not remove your rights where the supplied goods do not conform to the contract.

5. Prices, taxes, and payment

Prices in the U.S. storefront are shown in U.S. dollars. Standard shipping to an accepted U.S. delivery address is included in the displayed rug price. Any applicable sales tax that we are required to collect, and any separately chosen optional delivery service, are shown at checkout before you place your order.

Applicable import duties, import taxes, and customs-related carrier fees are not included in the purchase price and are the recipient’s responsibility. They may be charged separately by the carrier or the relevant authority. This allocation of import charges does not transfer any tax-collection obligation that the law places on us. We do not guarantee duty-free entry or a fixed rate of import charges.

Your bank or payment provider may charge you transfer or currency-conversion fees. Such third-party fees are your responsibility where applicable; they are not fees charged by TISLIT.

Available payment methods are displayed on the website, in the individual offer, or at checkout. Unless the chosen payment method or an individual agreement states otherwise, payment is due immediately when the contract is concluded.

6. Shipping, delivery, and transport risk

Shipping availability and delivery restrictions are described in our U.S. Shipping & Import Charges information and at checkout. Any shipment or delivery period stated in the product information or an individual agreement made before you order applies to that order. For made-to-order rugs, the schedule must account for production as well as transit. Contact us before ordering if you need delivery for a particular installation date.

If we cannot ship within the stated shipment period or any shipment time limit required by applicable law, we will notify you and explain the revised shipment date, if known, and your option to cancel for a full and prompt refund of the unshipped goods. We will obtain any consent to a delay required by applicable law. If the required consent is not obtained, or we cannot fulfill the order, we will cancel and refund the unshipped goods as required by law. This also applies to custom orders; the change-of-mind return exception does not remove rights arising from non-delivery, unlawful delay, or defects.

For consumers, the risk of accidental loss or damage during shipment passes to you only when the goods are handed over to you, whether the shipment is insured or uninsured. The exception is where you independently appoint a carrier or another person to transport the goods and that carrier or person was not offered by us, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

For business customers, delivery and shipment are at your risk to the extent permitted by applicable law. Retention of ownership is governed separately by Section I.3.

7. Cancellation and returns

Our Cancellation and Returns Policy forms part of these terms and sets out the 14-day cancellation period, how to notify us, the refund process, return shipping costs, and the treatment of individually made rugs. You can also read our U.S. Returns & Cancellations information.

The exception for non-prefabricated rugs made according to your individual selection or clearly tailored to your personal requirements concerns change-of-mind cancellation. It does not exclude your rights in the event of defects or any other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Privacy and the store platform

Our store is hosted by Shopify. Your purchase contract is with TISLIT, not Shopify. Information about how personal data is handled is available in our Privacy Policy.

9. Applicable version

The terms supplied for your order at the time the contract is concluded apply to that order. Later changes to this page do not retroactively alter an existing purchase contract.
