The Story of TISLIT

TISLIT began with a personal connection to the rugs of Morocco's Atlas Mountains. Our founder, Belaid Zouhair, grew up around family looms and the women who worked at them. That early experience still shapes the way he looks at a rug: its fibers, its construction, and the individual decisions visible in every line.

From the Atlas Mountains to textile engineering

Belaid moved to Germany to study textile finishing and later worked in the Swiss textile industry. He founded TISLIT in 2012, bringing his technical understanding of textiles together with the rug-making traditions of his home region.

A collection with different ways to make a home

Today, TISLIT brings together vintage Moroccan rugs, Moroccan rugs made to order, and a selection of Afghan rugs and kilims. Some pieces have fixed dimensions and an individual history; others are made for the proportions of your room. We describe each rug on its own terms, with its documented material, origin, dimensions, and condition.

Personal advice from Cologne

Our store is based in Cologne, Germany. We also work with customers online, helping compare colors, plan sizes, and understand the details of a particular rug. For a custom design, we discuss the available options before production.
